Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
What Is a Rhinoplasty?
Open VS Closed Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can be performed in 2 different ways. One is by an open approach and the other by a closed (aka endonasal). In an open rhinoplasty a surgeon will make a small incision at the base of your nose (columella) and will elevate the skin to reshape and restructure the nasal skeleton.
Dr. Mark Leyngold prefers to perform closed rhinoplasty. He spent many years perfecting this less invasive approach to nose surgery. This excellent scarless technique only requires a few small incisions inside your nose. These incisions allow surgeon to reshape and restructure your nose to create the desired look. Our goal is not only to meet your aesthetic goals but to improve your breathing with a less invasive approach. Other advantages of closed rhinoplasty include but are not limited to:
- less post-surgical swelling
- less nasal scarring and destruction of normal anatomy
- less pain after surgery
- more natural shape
- no need for suture removal after surgery
- more precise surgical assessment of the nasal shape and contour
